The Three Stages of Chickenpox
Chickenpox develops through three distinct stages, though new spots can keep emerging while others progress.
Stage 1: Initial Appearance of Spots
Chickenpox develops through three distinct stages, though new spots can keep emerging while others progress.
- Spots may occur anywhere, including sensitive areas like inside the mouth or around the genitals, causing discomfort.
- They may spread extensively or remain confined to a small area.
- Spot colour can range from red, pink, to darker shades, or even match your natural skin tone, making them harder to spot on brown or black skin.
Stage 2: Spots Turn into Blisters
- Spots become fluid-filled blisters
- Blisters are typically very itchy and can occasionally burst.
Stage 3: Blisters Form Scabs
- Blisters eventually crust over to form scabs.
- Scabs might flake off or occasionally leak fluid.
